What could Happen Next?
By: Tinker Bell
Seven o’clock my alarm goes off. Charles is curled up on my face purring as loud as a lion. I knock him off. He walks out contorted and mangled with an awful attitude. I decided to get up and get ready for school. My mother made me the same breakfast as usual, a burnt bagel with anchovy flavored cream cheese. No wonder my stomach hurts all of the time. I grabbed my backpack and as fast as lightening, swiftly ran out the door to catch the bus. I made it just in time.
I sat in my usual seat with Ashley, three rows from behind the driver. To some people they call it the loser seat.
“Hey, I told my mom about Mr. Blasier,” explained Joey.
“ So are you going to the funeral?” Ashley questioned.
“ Well, my mom did not want to talk about him with me. I do not think I want to go any way.”
“Why? I thought you liked Mr. Blasier,”
“Yes, I do but it will remind me of my father I never knew.”
We finally get to school. The principal is trying to act fifteen again by talking slang with the other immature football players. I looked at Ashley and we both thought about how it is such a tragedy he does not act his own age, of 44. I felt nauseous after seeing that.
On the way to first period, chaos as always, it took forever to get up to Mrs. Fairlane’s classroom because of all the “freshmeats” as we call the freshmen, in the hallways. The late bell rings and I know that is not good.
Thank goodness we have a sub today.
“Good morning class, my name is Ms. Brown. Unfortunately’ Mrs. Fairlane is not here today, she is attending a funeral.” Ms. Brown spoke softly.
“Today, we will going over your five new vocabulary words. Please write sentences using these words, rant, bland, lethal, luxury, and nemesis. If you do not finish, it is homework”
I looked over at Ashley and we both smiled, knowing we would not have homework. The bell finally rang after 43 minutes of boredom. The rest of the morning went as usual. Lunch was so funny because some geek tripped over the lunch lady’s cane. Unfortunately, he sat with us. He kept ranting about how it was all her fault. That she stuck her cane out to trip him.
On are way to the lockers the school bully, Jack, came over and stole money from Ashley. She was going to use that money to help with the donations to Haiti. He pushed Ashley out of the way and headed towards the stairwell. Well, he forgot about me to save the day. I ran up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder. As he turned around and saw me, his laugh became lethal. He did not expect it. I took my fist and punched him right square in the face. He had blood pouring out of his nostrils and tears out of his eyes. The only bad part was the vile sight the school saw.
The vice-principle was standing right there. She screamed, “ To the office! NOW!”
She questioned me but did not want to hear what I had to say. The next thing I knew was she was calling mom.
“Kathy? This is vice-principle Dr. Wolf. We need you to come to pick up your son, Joey.”
“Why?’ Asked Kathy.
“There was incident with another student. Joey is being suspended for five days because he started a fight.” Stated Dr. Wolf.
“Well, I am hours away. I cannot come to get him right now. If it is ok with you, Dylan could take him home now. I believe he is in study hall.”
“It sounds good to me.”
Dylan came down and escorted me out of the principal’s office. I had to ride in his beaten up jeep. He started the car and we were on are way to corporal punishment. He took out his cell phone and called mom, complaining about the situation and how he had to leave his girlfriend, Trisha, in study hall.
I hear noises, beep, beep, beep, beep. “I need an I.V. stat!” a voice shouted.
I open my eyes. I see people standing over me in white coats. I hear mom screaming,“Is he alive, is he alive?”
“Joey, this is Dr. Taylor. You were in a car accident. Your brother is fine, but we have to do some test on you. Would you like to see your mother?”
